about

Bringing a wealth of design experience to her projects, Izzy begins her work with each client by assessing their needs. Creating functional, design led interiors that are individual to each client is at the heart of her work.

This may mean starting from scratch on complete house renovations or extensions but it could also encompass designs that focus on furniture the client already has or elements of the current design that they wish to keep.

This client centred approach makes Izzy unique. From an initial client led brief, Izzy can then begin the design process, creating schemes that focus on texture and colour as well as cutting edge design, blending these with unique antique or vintage finds.

Izzy trained in graphic illustration at Camberwell School of Art.  While there she worked for the Saatchi Gallery. By the age of 25, she was running her own company,  working as an agent and producer in photography and art direction in the fashion industry, where she developed a client list that included Paul Smith, Levi’s, H&M, Uniqlo, Nike, Rapha, Sony Music and Virgin Records among others.

Following a career break, which saw her move to Oxford and start a family, she started Izzy MacPhail Interiors. She started doing up her own houses after moving and the business has grown organically.

Over the past 10 years, she has managed 80 projects. Over the past two years, she has also started to take on commercial projects, developing new office spaces for clients in Central Oxford and a new café and B&B in East Oxford.

When it comes to interior design she has encouraged us to think about new ideas whilst respecting the constraints of our budget and taste.  She has exacting standards and real attention to detail. She is also extremely responsive, patient and hardworking
